What you are agreeing to by using this app. Short, in plain English, and meant to be read rather than scrolled past. Last updated 2 September 2026.

What this is

Scripture Study is a personal, non-commercial Bible study project run by one administrator. It is not a company, it is free to use, it sells nothing, and it carries no advertising. Accounts are granted one at a time by invitation rather than by open sign-up. Using it means accepting what is on this page and in the privacy notice.

You need to be 16 or over to have an account.

What you upload is yours, and your responsibility

Your library stays yours

You keep every right you had in anything you import or write. Uploading a commentary here does not give this project a licence to it. All the app does is store it for you, index it so you can search it, and show it back to you.

Only upload what you are entitled to upload

This app cannot tell what a file is or where it came from, so you are the only one who can tell. By importing something you confirm you own it, are licensed to use it this way, or are otherwise permitted to — and you take responsibility for that. A private copy of a book you own, read by you, is the ordinary case and is fine. Uploading material you have no right to, or that is unlawful, is not, and it is grounds for removal.

Sharing is a different act, and a bigger claim

Submitting a resource to the community library is what starts it toward every reader on this instance, so it asks more of you: that you have the right to share it, that the licence you declare is the real one, and that the attribution is accurate. An administrator reviews a submission before it goes live, but that review checks that a claim is plausible and documented — it is not a legal determination and it does not move responsibility off you. When you share, you give this project permission to display it to other readers here, and nothing beyond that. Un-sharing takes it back from everyone immediately.

The Bible texts are not ours to give away

Some translations here are public domain and you may copy them freely. Others belong to their publishers and are shown under licence — you may read and study them here, and quoting them anywhere else is governed by that publisher’s terms rather than by anything on this page. Which is which, and what each publisher allows, is set out in full on the copyright page.

The study assistant is a language model

Every answer it gives is machine-generated and labelled as such where it appears. It can be confidently wrong, it is not pastoral, theological, legal or any other kind of professional advice, and it should not be the last word on anything that matters. Check it against the text. Decisions you make on the strength of an answer are yours.

Because AI calls cost real money on a shared bill, each account has a daily allowance, and the app records what each call cost. Deliberately exhausting or circumventing that allowance, or using the assistant to generate material unrelated to Bible study, is a misuse of someone else’s money.

What not to do

Short list, and none of it should be surprising:

· Don’t share your account or let someone else use it.
· Don’t try to reach other readers’ private content, or the administrator’s keys.
· Don’t scrape the licensed translations, or use this app as a way to redistribute them.
· Don’t upload malware, or anything unlawful.
· Don’t publish anything to the community library that you don’t have the right to publish.
· Don’t attack the service, or knowingly run up costs on it.

Accounts can be closed — including by you

Your account can be disabled or deleted at your request at any time, and you can take a complete download of everything in it first, without asking anyone. That is on the last card of your profile.

The administrator may suspend or close an account that breaks the terms above, and may remove content that does. Where it is not urgent you will be told why and given the chance to answer first. If the project itself is wound down, readers will be given reasonable notice and the chance to take their data.

Donations

Donations are voluntary gifts toward running costs. This project is not a registered charity, so a donation is not tax-deductible, and it buys nothing: no feature, no priority, no membership, and no influence over the app. Nothing here is behind a paywall and nothing ever will be. What this app does not promise

It is provided as it is, free, with no warranty of any kind. It is one person’s project running on hosting that can fail: there is no uptime guarantee, no support commitment, and no promise that a feature will still be here next month or that data will never be lost. Take your own backups of anything you would be sorry to lose — the download on your profile exists for exactly that.

To the fullest extent the law allows, neither the project nor its administrator is liable for loss or damage arising from your use of it. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited — and if you are a consumer, nothing here takes away rights the law gives you regardless of what a page like this says.

Complaints, and copyright complaints

If something here is wrong — a resource that should not be published, material that infringes your copyright, or a decision you want reconsidered — say so and it will be looked at. Community material can also be reported from the item itself, which reaches an administrator without naming you to the publisher.

If you have an account, the quickest route is Send feedback in the sidebar. It reaches the administrator with your account attached, so there is nothing to prove before your request can be acted on.

If you do not — you asked for access and never got one, you are a publisher, or you are writing on someone else’s behalf — use the contact page. It goes straight to the administrator, and the reply comes back to the address you give.

For a copyright complaint, please identify the work, where it appears here, and your relationship to it. Material that appears to infringe is taken down while it is looked into, and the person who published it is told why.

Changes, and which law applies

These terms may change as the app does. Substantive changes are announced in the changelog and the date at the top of this page moves; carrying on using the app after that is how you accept them. If you do not, close your account — the download comes first.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of your own country’s law.
