Help keep it running
Scripture Study is free, and stays free. Nothing is behind a paywall, no feature is reserved for a paid tier, and there are no ads or trackers. What it does have is a bill: the infrastructure underneath it costs real money every month. If the app is useful to you and you’re able, a donation covers a share of that.
Give once, or monthly
Any amount helps. Payment is handled by Stripe on their own pages — no card details ever touch this app.
What a donation is, and isn’t
A voluntary gift toward running costs, and nothing more. It buys no feature, no priority, no membership, and no say over the app — everything here is free to every reader either way, and that will not change.
This is not a registered charity, so a donation is not tax-deductible and no tax receipt can be issued. Stripe emails you a payment receipt for your own records.
Changed your mind? Ask and you will be refunded, no reason needed and no time limit — this is a gift, and a gift someone regrets is not one worth keeping. Use Send feedback if you have an account, or reply to the Stripe receipt if you don’t.
Monthly gifts can be stopped at any time, and stopping one takes effect immediately with nothing further charged. If you gave while signed in, the box below listing your donations opens Stripe’s own portal, where you can cancel or change the amount yourself. Otherwise ask, and it will be cancelled for you.
The full arrangement is in the terms of use, and what Stripe holds about you is in the privacy notice.
Where the money goes
Infrastructure, and nothing else. This isn’t a business — donations offset the running costs of an app given away for free.
Hosting
The application servers that render every chapter, plus the bandwidth to deliver them.
Database and storage
31,102 verses, 376,086 tagged word-groups, 344,780 cross references, and every note, highlight, and uploaded resource — backed up and kept online.
AI and search
Every summary, word study, and semantic search is metered by the token. Embeddings for the search index are billed the same way.
Bible providers
Six of the bundled translations are free and public domain; the seventh, the NET Bible, is copyrighted and costs nothing because its publisher lets a free app include it. Licensed ones — ESV, NKJV — come from publishers whose free API tiers cover the reading done so far, and start costing money once the app outgrows them.
The daily AI allowance, in numbers
- Per account, per day
- $5.00of metered AI
- Roughly
- 100studies a day
- Burst limit
- 20per 5 min
The allowance resets in full once a day, at midnight UTC, and it is the same for everyone. Donating does not raise it. There is no donor tier, no priority queue, and no way to buy more — a donation covers a share of the bill the whole instance runs on, and that is all it does. The studies-a-day figure is an estimate from the models currently selected; a long word study costs more than a short summary.
These figures are read from the app’s live configuration each time this page loads, so what you see here is what is actually being enforced.
Supporters
Everyone who has given, named as they asked to be named. Anonymous donors are counted and never listed; amounts stay private unless the donor asked to show one. Someone who gives monthly appears once on this list, not once per gift.
No donations yet. Whoever gives first gets the top of this wall.
Listings use the name given at checkout. If you’d rather be anonymous, be listed differently, or be taken off the wall entirely, say so when you donate or ask an administrator afterwards — donors with an account can change it themselves right here.
